Robert Hedley Chalmers
Was born in 1892 to parents Robert and Janet Mary Chalmers living at 3 Richmond Terrace, Windmill Hill Bristol a location which no longer exists. Robert was baptized on the 15th September 1892 at St Mary Redcliffe Church. His father died and his mother remarried, altogether he had six sisters and a brother. In 1911 he was working as an assistant on a sizing machine in a printers.
Joining the 1st Battalion of the Somerset Light Infantry as Private No. 10779 he arrived on the Western Front on the 3rd December 1914. Robert was killed in action age 22 on the 19th December 1914 and his grave is in Ploegsteert Wood Military Cemetery, Belgium.
